Pick a restaurant

Each chain has its own builder that follows how you actually order there: scoop by scoop at Chipotle, 6-inch or footlong at Subway, pump by pump at Starbucks.

How to eat out without guessing

Every chain listed here publishes its nutrition numbers. The problem is that they publish them per component, while you order a whole meal. A burrito is six scoops; a latte is milk plus pumps; a combo is three items and a sauce packet. MenuCal adds those parts the way you order them.

Three habits make the biggest difference: watch the wrapper (a flour tortilla or a wrap can be 300 calories on its own), watch anything creamy or fried, and pick the drink before you order the food. The protein side is simpler: grilled chicken is the leanest protein at almost every chain.

If you want the “why” behind those numbers, our guide to how restaurant calories add up lets you drag grams of fat and carbs and watch the total move. And if you ever wonder where those calories start: every one in that rice and lettuce was sunlight first, and a narrated explainer on photosynthesis shows how a leaf pulls that off.

Questions people ask

How accurate are restaurant calorie counts?

US chains with 20+ locations must post calories under the FDA menu labeling rule, and those figures are what MenuCal uses. Portions scooped by hand vary, so a real meal can land 10–20% either side of the published number.

Can I add items from different restaurants to one total?

Yes. The search above covers every chain on MenuCal. Add a Starbucks drink and a Chipotle bowl to the same ticket, or log separate orders to today’s tally.

Is my order saved anywhere?

Only in your own browser (localStorage). There are no accounts and nothing is sent to a server unless you use the optional AI order coach, which receives only the goal you type.

How many calories should a restaurant meal be?

Label Daily Values assume 2,000 calories a day, so a three-meal day works out to roughly 500–700 per meal. Your own needs depend on size, age and activity; a registered dietitian can give a personal number.
