The easiest calorie cuts
Most of the savings come from four swaps: a bowl or lettuce instead of a tortilla or bun (220–320 calories), water or a diet drink instead of a regular soda (200–290), the smallest fries or a fruit side (250–360), and no creamy sauce or whipped cream (80–150).
Low calorie is not the whole story
A 250-calorie order with 5 g of protein will leave most people hungry by mid-afternoon. Protein and fibre help with fullness, which is why beans, grilled chicken and vegetables show up so often in the lighter meals.

FAQ
What is the lowest-calorie fast food meal?
Among these meals, Chick-fil-A Grilled Nuggets with a fruit cup (about 240 calories) and a Starbucks cold brew with egg-white bites (about 175) are the lightest complete orders.
Can you eat fast food and lose weight?
Weight change depends on total intake over time. Knowing the numbers before you order makes it much easier to fit a restaurant meal into a calorie target.
Are calorie counts at restaurants accurate?
They are required by the FDA menu labeling rule and are generally close, but hand-portioned items vary. A study in JAMA (Urban et al., 2011) found most restaurant items were within about 10 calories of the stated value on average, with wide variation for individual items.
